What is SCOAP3?
The Sponsoring Consortium for Open Access Publishing in Particle Physics (SCOAP3) is a global partnership working towards the open access publishing of high-quality research articles in the field of particle physics. Established in 2014, SCOAP3 is one of the first collective open access initiatives, inspired by the long tradition of collaboration across CERNs experiments. It involvs 3000 stakeholders including publishers, libraries, funding agencies, and research institutions and is now converting more than 90% of the annual high-energy physics literature to immediate open access.
Use Case
SCOAP3 addresses the challenge of access to scientific knowledge by facilitating the transition of subscription-based journals to open access models. Thanks to an equitable and transparent business model, SCOAP3 enables HEP researchers to publish their work in prestigious journals without financial or administrative barriers. It thus promotes unrestricted access to cutting-edge research findings, fostering collaboration and accelerating scientific progress in the field of particle physics.
