The CERN Courier is the magazine hosted at CERN to report on international high energy physics. In its latest issue (July/August 2026), two major Open Source projects are featured.

The first story, written by Szymon Łopaciuk, Giacomo Broggi, Frederik Van der Veken and John Salvesen, explains how an open source software suite, called XSuite, has become the standard software to simulate beams and therefore optimise existing particle colliders and drive the development of new ones.

A second story features open hardware prominently in an interview with Etam Noah and James Devine, who developed and lead the Cosmic Pi project, which aims at developing low-cost particle detectors. The story features a journey from pole to pole measuring cosmic radiation using these detectors.
