SCOAP3 successfully concludes second evaluation period of Open Science Elements

We are pleased to announce the publication of the 2026 Open Science Elements evaluation results, the second iteration of this assessment for SCOAP3 Phase 4. 

This annual evaluation measures the performance of SCOAP3 publishers across a range of Open Science practices, including persistent identifier integration (ORCiD and ROR), metadata quality, data and software availability, accessibility, and transparency on community values.

The 2026 edition introduces new scoring elements related to dataset and software linking available in the articles. The results show a positive overall trend, with the SCOAP3 average rising from 15.41 in 2025 to 18.68 in 2026, reflecting continued progress across the SCOAP3 publishers.
