CERN to host Europe’s flagship open-access publishing platform
CERN has been selected to host Open Research Europe (ORE), a diamond open access publishing platform supported by the European Commission and a new funding consortium of national research funders from 11 European countries. Built on open-source software and following a transparent Publish–Review–Curate model, the platform will expand authorship eligibility to researchers from all participating countries, with publishing free of charge for both European Commission-funded researchers and authors from institutions from consortium member states. With ORE, CERN adds another cornerstone to its open science infrastructure portfolio, alongside SCOAP3 and Zenodo, where CERN likewise provides the technical and operational backbone while funding and governance sit with external partners. The new platform launches later this year at ore.eu.
