How can I shape what’s CERN’s position in terms of open science?

The Open Science Practitioners Forum (OSPF) is where these and many more questions are answered, and where you can influence early developments for policies, tools, or common practices while there is still time to do so. Whether it’s new publishing models, specific challenges of open data releases, suggestions of open source software for open science infrastructures, discussions about analysis workflows, opportunities and challenges of reforming research assessment, or the implementation of citizen science projects: the OSPF is the place to discuss all these topics and many more.
It is open to anyone at CERN who wants a say in how Open Science becomes everyday practice, whether you build the tools or are using them for the first time.
The OSPF meetings are organised by the Open Science office together with the OSPF chair and take place about every one to two months. The current chair of the OSPF is Clemens Lange.

For the future we are planning meetings covering the following topics. Any other topics are always welcome:
- Open science infrastructures
- Open source in other institutions

If you want to discuss a specific topic, please reach out to the OSPF organisers (Open Science Office and OSPF chair), or fill the form below.
To stay up to date via e-mail, the easiest would be to sign up to the OSPF e-group (mailing list). Even if you don’t intend to join the meetings, this is the main communication channel with everyone interested in the topic. If you want to join the mailing list without a CERN address, please write to the OSPF organisers.

Working groups
For certain topics, there are formal working groups as part of the OSPF which work on these topics. If you are further interested in the work of these groups, please reach out to the Open Science office.
Open Data Working Group
The Open Data Working group coordinates the implementation of the LHC Open Data Policy among the LHC experiments.
Infrastructure WG
The Infrastructure WG consists of members from the OS office as well as from the IT-CA group to discuss the landscape of Open Science infrastructures at CERN and to develop guidelines for its use.
Analysis Workflows WG
The analysis workflows WG consists of representatives from all big LHC experiments as well as from theory to discuss how different analysis workflows can become more reproducible. Join the dedicated Mattermost channel if you are interested in the topic.
CoARA WG
The CoARA WG was founded to implement the CoARA Action Plan. They liaise with stakeholders from across CERN to understand current practices of research assessment and develop discipline-specific guidelines for qualitative research assessment.
